Betfred Cup round-up: Livi win battle of Meadowbank

Tonight we’ve got the smallest Betfred Cup round up we may ever produce, seeing as only Livingston and Edinburgh City featured tonight.

The current occupants of Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh City, welcomed the former occupants of the ground, Livingston, in the second round of group fixtures in the Betfred Cup.

This was City’s first outing in the League Cup while Livingston came into it off the back of a tough 3-2 defeat to St Mirren in their opening game.

But it wasn’t a night to be remembered for the newly promoted League Two side as Livi put them to the sword with a 3-0 win.

Josh Mullin nodded the visitors in front just before the half hour mark with a second coming as Mullin turned provider to supply a cross for Danny Mullen to double the Lothian side’s lead on the stroke of half-time.

Liam Buchanan didn’t let two disallowed goals hold him back as he tapped in from close range to secure Livingston’s victory with their third goal of the game.

City now turn their attentions to Saturday’s game away at Ayr United while their opponents have the weekend off.
